| Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) |
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an assessment
of the likely human environmental health impact, risk to ecological
health, and changes to nature's services that a project may
have. Its purpose is to ensure that decision-makers consider
environmental impacts before deciding whether to proceed with
new projects. EIA is taken up as a rapid assessment technique
for determining the current status of the environment and identifying
impact of critical activities on environmental parameters.
Based on a thorough analysis, Green Dharti draws up an Environmental
Management Plan to ensure impact monitoring and mitigation
planning.
EIA enables us in carrying out environmental cost-benefit
analysis of projects at an initial stage. It is thus
a precursor to detailed analysis of environmental impacts,
which are taken up only if required. Based on EIA, regulatory
measures and roles of concerned agencies can be defined
for achieving more efficient environmental management.
We provide tried and tested rapid assessment techniques that often make costly
and time-consuming detailed studies redundant. This exercise is an attempt in
developing an approach to impact assessment before construction of industrial
townships.
Environmental Impact Assessment is a management tool for officials and managers
who take important decisions about major development projects. EIA should have
the following objectives: |
|
| • |
Prediction of environmental impact of projects |
| • |
Finding ways and means to reduce adverse impacts |
| • |
Shaping projects to suit the local environment |
| • |
Presenting the findings to decision-makers |
